Garden Planning 2016

It's been a busy, busy school year. We had a wonderfully fun blizzard with 22" of snow in late January, during which I dreamed of farming by reading Forrest Pritchard's new book, Growing Tomorrow: Behind the Scenes with 18 Extraordinary Sustainable Farmers Who Are Changing the Way We Eat. It features different sustainable farms across the country and it's a great read.

I also ordered new seeds from Seed Savers Exchange. This year's garden will hopefully feature the addition of:
- new herbs: savory and lovage
- French Breakfast radishes
- Merveille des Quartres Saisons lettuce
- McMahon's Texas Bird pepper
- Sunflower mixture
- Starfire Signet marigolds
- La Ratte fingerling potatoes -- I'm excited to try my first potato growing experiment!

Next weekend I'll buy some seed starting soil and start with some of the herbs and perhaps eggplant. Countdown to spring begins!

Here's a photo of the garden after the blizzard, with a confused-looking Peach.
